The Canadian Society for Social Development (CSSD), a federally incorporated society, is part of the Community Futures Network of British Columbia.

We conduct two free online programs for people with disabilities across all of Canada.

Business Abilities
Entrepreneurial Training

The Business Abilities website will give you the tools you need to research your business idea and prepare your business plan. Once you have your venture started our site will continue to provide you with business management workshops that will help you grow your business.

Intake is continuous and is funded by the Opportunities Fund. BA is an entrepreneurial training program that teaches any PWD that wants to explore self employment, how to research their business idea and build a business plan. Once the student has their BP created we review and critique it and then when they are ready to establish their business we continue to offer one-on-one coaching and advanced business management modules to help them become successful.

Internet Business Development for Entrepreneurs (IBDE)
Web Design Training

The “award winning” Internet Business Development for Entrepreneurs with Disabilities (IBDE) Program, conducted by the Canadian Society for Social Development (CSSD) teaches new marketable skills to Canadians with disabilities, in a self-paced and supported work and learning environment.

The IBDE program is a three month on-line, web design course followed by a three month segment where students put their new skills into practice building a web site under the guidance of their instructor. The IBDE program is accredited by Selkirk College in Nelson, BC and students completing both the curriculum and practicum will receive a certificate.

This program is primarily funded by Office of Learning Technologies and we have an annual intake, with the next group scheduled to start in October 2006.  Tuition grants are available for qualifying individuals.

Both of our programs have online instructors that coach the students through instant text messaging and we also have a virtual classroom provided by Elluminate.com for group sessions on various topics.
