CANADA SUMMER JOBS

Canada Summer Jobs provides funding to help employers create summer job opportunities for students. It is designed to focus on local priorities, while helping both students and their communities.

Canada Summer Jobs:

  • provides work experiences for students;
  • supports organizations, including those that provide important community services; and
  • recognizes that local circumstances, community needs and priorities vary widely.

Canada Summer Jobs provides funding to not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer employees to create summer job opportunities for young people aged 15 to 30 years who are full-time students intending to return to their studies in the next school year.

YMCA Youth Job Match

This province-wide program assists young, motivated individuals throughout BC gain experience, build skills, develop confidence, and through the support and guidance of YMCA program staff, overcome barriers to employment. Participants work with program staff to secure paid, full-time employment within high-demand occupations for a minimum period of 12 weeks.

Participant Eligibility
We are currently accepting applicants who meet the following criteria:
  • 15 to 30 years of age (at the time of selection)
  • Not in receipt of EI benefits (at start of program)
  • Not currently attending a secondary or post-secondary institution and non completion of post-secondary education
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada
Benefits for Employers:
  • A wage subsidy provided by the federal government that subsidizes $9.25 per hour of the employee's wages
  • Industry-focused training that will help your organization meet the training needs of entry-level employees
  • Ongoing employer/employee support provided by YMCA program staff
